คุณลักษณะที่สำคัญของหัวหน้าทีมกีฬา : กรณีศึกษาการแข่งขันกีฬามหาวิทยาลัยแห่งประเทศไทย

Abstract

The purposes of this study were 1) to study the opinions of the coaches toward the
important characteristics of sport team captains, 2) to compare the opinions of the coaches toward
the main important characteristics of the sport team captains classified according to those who
were qualified in physical education or sports and who were not qualified, and 3) to propose the
policy suggestion toward those who have the responsibility to select the sport team captains. The
research methodology by used mixed methodologies of quantitative and qualitative research. The
study population were coaches team sports
participating in The 44th University Sports of Thailand at Suranaree University of Technology.
136 coaches were the sample of this study by randomly classification according to the sport type
and random sampling was used in collecting data of each sport. The questionnaires and interview
recording forms were the research instruments. The quantitative data were analyzed by the
frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test. The qualitative data were analyzed by
content analysis.
The results were as follows: 1) the opinions of coaches toward the main important
characteristics of sports team captains as a whole were at highest level. The aspect that gained
the highest means score was sportsmanship. Human relationship, motivation, and leadership was the
second while the personality and communication were at the high level accordingly, 2) the
comparison between coaches who were qualified in physical education or sports and who were not
qualified as a whole and each aspect was no significance, and 3) the policy suggestion toward those
who have the responsibility to select the sport team captains. The process of the team
participation should be applied. If the competition was an international game, some abilities in
English communication should be added. It should also have an evaluation the sports team captains
for developing some weaken points, and to promote the sports team captains by training some main
characteristics of the sport team
